What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a hands-on complementary therapy that treats the body as a whole. The Reflexology Association of America (RAA) defines reflexology as "a protocol of manual techniques, such as thumb and finger-walking, hook and backup and rotating-on-a-point, applied to specific reflex areas predominantly on the feet and hands. These techniques stimulate the complex neural pathways linking body systems, supporting the body's efforts to function optimally". The effectiveness of reflexology is recognized worldwide by various national health institutions and the public at large as a distinct complementary practice within the holistic field. (RAA 2016)
How Does Reflexology Work?
The feet represent a microcosm of the body. Organs, glands and body systems are represented in similar positions on the feet as they are in the body. Pressure is applied to these reflex points using specific techniques referenced above. This prompts physiological change to occur in the body, which stimulates the body's own healing potential. Every cell in the body has electrical energy flowing through it. When there is tension and stress in the body, muscles contract restricting the flow of energy and affecting normal body function. Relaxation is achieved through reflexology, which allows resumption of normal energy flow.

Every cell is given the opportunity to heal, harmonize and balance to the very level of cellular DNA, enabling the body to return to a state of wellness.
